Synchrony @ Work
DAY IN LIFE OF A CLAIM

2. Case Assignment & Triage
Tuesday, 3:20 p.m.
Notice of the claim received at the regional service center. A Synchrony Workers Compensation Case Manager is assigned to Jane's claim. He begins his investigation by contacting Jane and Jane's supervisor. He may refer her to a network provider who makes the diagnosis of a rotator cuff tear and immediately schedules surgery.
Wednesday, 1:45 p.m.
Following up with the physician, he learns that Jane is expected to be away from work 4 to 6 weeks. Based on the benefit plan for ABC, he alerts the Synchrony Disability Case Manager to the possible length of disability. Due to potential overlap with Jane's STD benefits, the Synchrony Disability Case Manager sends out the appropriate authorization for release and use of information regarding Jane's absence.

Wednesday, 1:55 p.m.
The claim has also been automatically and electronically referred to the Synchrony Medical Case Manager to begin a return to work program for Jane.
